The History Department would like to welcome Dr. Alvis Dunn to UNCA
Dr. Dunn comes to us from Guilford College where he served as Department Chair. He received his Ph.D. in History from
UNC-Chapel Hill and, in addition to his tenure at Guilford, has
taught at UNC-Charlotte, Duke, East Carolina, and NC A&T. He will be teaching a variety of courses in his major field of Latin American History (his primary research interest is in 18th century Guatemala), as well as World Civilization, U.S. History to 1865, North Carolina History, and Humanities.
Dr. Dunn is a native of rural Chatham County, NC, considers Guatemala his second home, and enjoys basketball, mixology, and pork. He is married to University Librarian Leah Dunn and has a seven-year old daughter Delilah.
