Greenawalt/Ready Senior Thesis Award
Purpose: The Department of History presents the Greenawalt/Ready Senior Thesis Award annually. The purpose of the award is to recognize the student(s) who writes the most outstanding senior thesis in a given year.
Eligibility: Graduating senior
Scholarship Information: The selection of the best senior thesis will be based on the originality, impact, and written quality of the work.
Winner is announced at the History Department Spring Banquet.
Ruth and Leon Feldman Award
Eligibility: Best graduating senior in the department as determined by the department faculty.
Winner is announced at the History Department Spring Banquet.
Mark Lawson Scholarship
Eligibility: Outstanding continuing student as determined by the department faculty.
Scholarship Information: Mark Lawson a UNC Asheville Alumni established the Mark Lawson Fund for the Study of History, an endowed scholarship at UNC Asheville. Scholarship amount varies and a winner is chosen once each academic year. Financial need can be a factor, and the scholarship is renewable.
Winner is announced at the History Department Spring Banquet.
Mitchell History Fellow Scholarship
Eligibility: History majors exhibiting superior academic potential.
Scholarship Information: Joseph H. and Cynthia G. Mitchell established the Joseph H. and Cynthia G. Mitchell Fund for History Majors, an endowed scholarship at UNC Asheville. Scholarship amount varies (but is at least $1000) and a winner is chosen once each academic year. An application can be found here.
North Carolina History Award
Eligibility: Student majoring in History
Scholarship Information: The selection of the best thesis in North Carolina History will be based on the originality, impact, and written quality of the work.
Winner is announced at the History Department Spring Banquet.
Philip Walker Award
Purpose: The purpose of this award is to recognize students for outstanding research accomplishments.
Eligibility: UNC Asheville student with good academic standing. There is also a special consideration for work in foreign languages.

Research Travel Scholarships
